About Hills Grammar Principal:
Mr Michael Smith, BA, DipEd, MA(Lit), MEd(Leadership), MACEL, MACE – Principal
Michael Smith was appointed as the 4th Principal of Hills Grammar at the end of 2016 after serving the School for 18 years as Deputy Principal. The School has therefore entered a new chapter and it is an exciting time for the current cohort of students and, in particular for future students who will be the recipients of a Hills Grammar education. The new chapters and directions build upon the amazing achievements of the past thirty-five years, yet will take education in new directions as our students needs change and alter alongside the demands and requirements of an economy and world in transition. Hills Grammar is cognisant of its responsibility to be preparing it students, not just for the immediate challenges of a NAPLAN test, or a Higher School Certificate but for that which comes after school – a new world, which demands new work order skills and young people who are able to adapt and contribute across a wide range of contexts, sectors, industries and on a global stage.
Blending the traditional and very contemporary approaches to education therefore and drawing upon a thirty three year careers in education, Michael considers it not only as a singular and great privilege to work with children and young people, but understands the responsibility teachers and educators have to ensure our children and young people are prepared for what it to come. Significantly this requires a team effort; staff, students, parents and community working in partnership to achieve extraordinary outcomes.
Hills Grammar is delighted to welcome the Hill Business Chamber to the School and to share something of our character and reveal some of the directions we will be pursuing over the coming years and we hope that Chamber members may be inspired to join us and willing to be a part of the journey ahead.
