Celebrating Women In Business - VIRTUAL Event
The purpose of the CWIB event is to celebrate amazing women in business who have had a powerful impact in society and have achieved some great milestones within their career. This popular bi-annual event, hosted by the Sydney Hills Business Chamber aims to inspire both men and women as we celebrate the lives of incredible female CEO’s, Founders, Directors and Managing directors. The lunch attracts 90 – 110 attendees and is growing every year.
This May we are really excited to introduce two amazing and inspiring ladies, Josephine Sukkar AM from Buildcorp and Linda Laidlaw from RESMED.
You will leave this event inspired and ready to overcome any challenges you may be facing after hearing these amazing ladies share their pathways to success.
About the Speakers
LINDA LAIDLAW, VP Global Supplier Alliance, ResMed
Linda is VP Global Supplier Alliance responsible for all suppliers and ResMed external spend. She has held previous roles in ResMed as Global VP Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs and Director of Marketing Healthcare informatics. Linda has a strong commercial and customer perspective having held commercial, marketing and product development programme management roles in several major medical device companies as well as founding and leading start-up businesses. Linda understands what it’s like on the vendor side of the table and is well placed to take on the commercial and other complex aspects of her current role. Starting her career as a clinician in the UK, Linda changed to the corporate world for the opportunity to live and work in Europe, USA, and Australia and continues to enjoy international business.
Linda is recently an empty nester and enjoys her new found freedom as well as the vast reduction in washing, cooking and cleaning. Her favourite holidays are safaris which she has taken in Kenya and India but has an ever increasing bucket list of places to go!
Josephine is a professional company director who works across a range of industries, including property, construction, finance, sport, the arts, medical research and social services.
A former science teacher, she established Buildcorp with her husband 30 years ago, which employs over 350 staff and has revenue of $600 million. In 2018 and then for a second time in 2019, Buildcorp became the only construction company to have been recognised as an Employer of Choice.
Josephine is Principal of Buildcorp, and serves on a number of private, public, government and not-for-profit boards, including Growthpoint Properties Australia, Parramatta Park Trust, Opera Australia, the Australian Museum, Centenary Institute of Medical Research, Property Council Australia, Melbourne University Infrastructure Advisory Board, the Sydney University Football Club Foundation and the Buildcorp Foundation. She is President of Australian Women’s Rugby and through Buildcorp has been a major sponsor of rugby in Australia for nearly 30 years.
She has previously served as a director of The Trust Company, the Australian Rugby Foundation and the YWCA NSW.
Josephine is a Fellow of the University of Sydney, and in 2017 she was recognised for her services to the community, the arts and sports in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
