Michelle Lee | Solo Ocean Rower the
Michelle Lee is Australia first female to conquer solo the Atlantic Ocean in the World’s Toughest Row. Michelle was 44 years old the day she decided to row across the Atlantic. The fact that she was not a rower, not elite or not an athlete, was irrelevant. Although she had a passion to train and compete in small triathlons, trek Kokoda and many short course runs, this was by far the biggest challenge Michelle had considered.
To be solo, independent and self-sufficient, in a bid to "see what she was made" motivated her desire. She was fueled by "Not wanting to die wondering"
Fast forward 6 months after deciding to row the Atlantic, Michelle became the World Record Holder of the 1 million metre rowing challenge. Michelle shaved almost 11 hours off the record, held by a German Olympic Rower.
Michelle launched her purpose-built ocean rowing boat in July 2017 - and took her very first oar strokes in water.
In February 2019, 68 days after departing the start line, Michelle became Australia's first woman to row solo across any ocean - 5,000kms.
