Test and Tagging is the process of checking electrical equipment In accordance with the Australian Standards AS/NZS 3760:2012 as extracted below

“Electrical Equipment needs to be subject to regular inspection and testing to detect obvious damage & wear”

    1) INSPECTION
Testing is conducted by a qualified technician who will first undertake a visual inspection of plugs, sockets, the appliance and any damage or wear. This includes the plugin, damage to the cord insulation, flexibility for the cord and anchors.

    2) TESTING
The technician will then use a portable appliance tester (P.A.T) to comprehensively test electrical appliances for dangers, earth continuity, voltage leakage, polarity & insulation. Many of these cannot be seen by the naked eye

    3) TEST RESULT
The portable appliance tester (P.A.T) will then provide Pulse Test & Tag with a pass or fail result, together with the relevant detailed results of each test.

    4) TAGGING

Once the device is passed it will be labelled with a Pulse Test and Tag sticker put on it which will indicate the date, time and operator that tested it. As well as the date for the next test.

Our tags are self-laminating, heavy duty and durable ensuring they will stay fixed to the cord. All tags have the following information:

The Pulse logo and phone number
The technicians name and phone number
An identification number for each particular item
    The test date
    The retest date
Reference to the Australian Standard – AS/NZS 37605

    5) DETAILED REPORT

Pulse Test and Tag will provide you with a report detailing the status of your electrical equipment. This report can also be utilised by an Asset Management Register.

We at Pulse Test and Tag understand that sometimes the issue might be hard to detail or explain, so feel free to give us a call on 1800 4 A TEST ( 1800 4 2 8378) and one of our experienced team will be more than willing to assist you with any enquiry, or check out our FAQ page to answer some of the more common questions we get asked at Pulse.
